With over a decade in the industry, I started my career in Santa Cruz, CA completing a multi-year apprenticeship, my hair journey has since led me to soak up continued education and work in The Bay Area, become licensed and work in Nashville, soak up continued education in the south and NYC, become a licensed barber in Oregon, followed by opening up The Hideout Hair Studio in a cozy corner of Downtown Portland as a two chair space, now expanding to Hawthorne blvd .
I am always excited to meet new clients and get folks to the style theyโve been craving while nourishing their manes with non toxic products. With an emphasize on low maintenance styling, I specialize in big transformations, shags, bobs, anything with bangs, masculine long hair and classic barbering. I take inspiration from 60โs and 70โs musicians, world travel, the classics and ever changing trends. Razor cutting is my jam for those effortless lived in looks, while my experience in classic scissor work and barbering allows me to produce versatile results based on each persons individual preferences, lifestyle and hair texture.
When not behind the chair youโll find me hanging out with my partner and dogs, exploring the great outdoors, hitting up the local art and music scene, traveling or soaking up some education on hair!

Liz Lafferty brings 20+ years of experience behind the chair, with a passion for creating effortless hair that feels modern, lived-in, and uniquely tailored to each client. Specializing in dimensional blondes, balayage, rich brunettes, seamless gray blending, and soft, low-maintenance color, Liz loves creating hair that grows out beautifully and feels just as good months later as it did walking out of the salon.

Kenz Elms- junior haircutting specialist
Hi Iโm Kenz! My pronouns are they/them and Iโm a cut specialist of 4 years. While Iโm originally from Southern California my hair journey began in Colorado graduating Paul Mitchell with honors in cutting as well as diving into multiple cut focused programs based on TIGI education
Iโve always been drawn to Portland for the unique community and artistic expression of the city. being able to live here, meet so many wonderful people and explore this gorgeous place has been such a privilege.
I have a huge passion for alternative, queer and affirming hair and draw a lot of inspiration from different alternative subcultures through the decades.
I love mixing structured precision with visual creativity working with both shears and razor for dramatic, expressive looks that can grow out effortlessly.
I strive to hold a safe space in my chair for all gender expressions by focusing on the details that bring hair into a more masculine, feminine, or androgynous energy to create an affirming look and feel. I also believe itโs important to hold emphasis on open communication before, during, and after a cut to cultivate a comfortable environment for all.
I believe hair plays such a vital role in self expression, every person deserves to feel comfy and confident in the way they present themselves and Iโm honored to take part in that.
Outside of the salon I love some arts and crafts time and a coffee and thrifting day,
I also love pushing myself to hit fitness goals in the gym and taking my hound dog Winston on hikes!
